Research has shown that for weight loss:

    • Exercising for 15 weeks will make you lose 2kg
    • Following an adequate diet for more than 15 weeks will make you lose +10kg

What’s the verdict? A combination of both diet (70%) and exercise (30%) is fundamental for weight loss.

So why does exercise make you lose less kg than a good diet?

Basal metabolic rate (BMR) is not well regulated if one of the above is considered in isolation. Physiologically, to increase your metabolism, you got to increase roughage (fibre), healthy macronutrients and micronutrients, etc etc.

Think about it this way (yes I’m giving a mechanical example again):

If the engine of an airplane is not well regulated or functioning optimally with its processes it wont travel adequately. Your ‘engine with its processes’ is your body; the ‘oil and water’ you put in is your ‘fuel’ (food); and what ‘drives the plane to work or make the processes be thorough’ is exercise…
